Competition Time at the Bushmills Salmon and Whiskey Festival

We have been busy giving you a taste of what is in store over the weekend at the Bushmills Salmon and Whiskey Festival. We welcome the distribution of the programme https://bit.ly/3esyFH7 which outlines tasters, showcases, The Bushmills Taste Trail, music venues and children's activities. 

Over the weekend, you can enjoy festival-themed dishes and drinks along The Bushmills Taste Trail and indulge in free taster sessions at The Designerie and the Bushmills VIC. Sunday 16th, there are three Live Chef Demonstration Areas - Bushmills VIC featuring Celebrity Chef Paula McIntyre MBE & her enviable 'Egg', Main Street Carpark is a showcase of former MasterChef contestants, and Paula McIntyre MBE relocates for another opportunity to see her doing what she does best!   

The Garden Cookery Area, located beside Maegden and across the road from Finn MacCools, is the location for a local Chef demonstration. Four Chefs with a depth of experience have devised a stunning range of dishes to demonstrate the wealth of local produce and skills on our doorstep. Wendy Gallagher from Causeway Coast Foodie Tours will be on hand to compere the four Chef spots and there will be live music to entertain us between times. Chefs have promised us free tasters of their dishes and some mouth-watering extra treats to keep us satisfied throughout the demonstrations.

The winner will be announced on the Bushmills Banquet Facebook page on Sunday 30th October 2022 at 7pm.

12.30 pm - 1.15 pm Chef Niall McGinn

Niall is the multi-award-winning Head Chef and Producer of Dundarave Estate. He will be selling his incredible range of preserves as part of the Naturally North Coast and Glens Artisan Market and will dash to the Garden Cookery Area to cook up a storm for us and give us an opportunity to ask about his product range.

1.30pm - 2.15pm  Chef Kevin Farren

Kevin Farren is no stranger to The Bushmills Salmon and Whiskey Festival. He has charmed us with his skill and banter as part of the popular Chef demonstrations. Kevin is the Head Chef at the Bayview Hotel in Portballintrae, renowned for its excellent food, service and breathtaking views. Kevin will demonstrate how we can produce a restaurant standard dish at home! He will make it look easy so concentrate!

2.30pm - 3.15pm Chef Craig Garrott

Craig Garrott is the Head Chef of another sea-facing hotel with spectacular views at The Portrush Atlantic Hotel. Craig's current menu is a delious mix of firm favourites using local produce and a number of spicy internationally-inspired dishes making it a refreshingly diverse venue along the North Coast. Craig has embraced the festival theme with his planned dishes, and without giving too much away, he will be heavy-handed on the Bushmills Whiskey! Yah!!

3.30pm - 4.15pm Chef Patron Gary Stewart

When we think about the Bushmills Salmon and Whiskey Festival, Gary Stewart springs to mind.  The event is managed by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, but the success of the event is delivering authentic experiences that reflect the local food scene. Gary is renowned for rolling up his sleeves and has been commended for his can-do attitude. He has an incredible range of festival-inspired food and drinks options on offer at Tartine at The Distillers Arms. He will be guiding the lucky guests who were fortunate to snap up tickets to the Dine around Bushmills over a number of venues, and he will be with us in the Garden Cooking Area on Sunday 16th. Due to popular demand, he will demonstrate a dish he has won many awards for, and he will be treating us with tasters of his award-winning sauce range.
